Surrender is not passive; it is active allowing and receptivity. It is the only way to be a receiver… and we are all receivers!
In the role of ‘guide’ (and in the role of ‘the guided’!) I keep observing how surrender cannot be taught or learned. It spontaneously happens when it does. (Put simply, it happens when Love/Union truly happens.)
Until then all the guide must ‘do’ is keep surrendering her self to the non-surrendering — the resistance and mental / argumentative questioning — and remain in allowing. (Otherwise she becomes party to the resistance.) She must be the receiver who (at)tunes to the pure potential she sees, and see nothing else, allowing the rest to naturally fade away. (Allow the noise to either dissipate, or integrate and become the Music :-))
This is what Marianne Williamson points to when she writes in her study of A Course in Miracles (and I quote from memory), “The only thing missing in any situation is what you’re not giving to it.”
