The use of the word ‘attainment’ in connection with Self-realization is yet another example of egoic concept, something used in division and separation, in notions of superiority or specialness.
Nothing is attained in Self-realization, rather, everything is lost! Or, you could say, if anything is attained, it is Nothing, i.e. No-thing 🙂 What is lost is every concept, label, identification, want or don’t-want, notion of “me” that is this way or that way, wish to belong or not belong… All is lost of goals, missions, learning, accomplishment, achievement, recognition via any kind of doing… All is also lost of memory, story, history, time. And all is lost of hope and regret, ups and downs, highs and lows, looking forward to, looking back to… All is lost of intellectualism and emotionality.
What is left is pure essence in pure presence: (One)Self in the Now. Embodied.
What happens is simply: first, the remembering, then abiding in, and finally, embodying what is always already true underneath all the conditioning: Nothingness, and therefore everythingness. Oneness. Peace. Love.
